New York Car Insurance
Like most other states, drivers living in the State of New York are required to
carry auto insurance on their vehicles. This can be difficult when their
insurance premiums are among the highest in the nation. In addition to the
common liability and physical damage coverages, New Yorkers are also required
to have Personal Injury Protection or "No Fault" coverage on their policies.
New York City Car Insurance: Required Liability Coverages
New Yorkers must carry minimum Bodily Injury Liability limits of $25,000 per
person with $50,000 per accident; Property Damage Liability limits are set at
$10,000 per accident. Limits of $50,000 per person Bodily Injury and $100,000
per accident or even higher limits may be purchased for an additional premium.
Bodily Injury Liability pays for injuries to other people caused by the person
driving the car. In an accident on a policy with minimum limits, each person
injured would receive up to $25,000 for their injuries with $50,000 allowed for
the entire accident. Property Damage Liability would pay $10,000 maximum for
damage to another car or property.

vehicle occupants no matter who was at fault. Created in an attempt to reduce
litigation, it bars an injured party from suing the person responsible for
damages. Additional benefits include a death benefit, lost wages, and
disability. Additional coverage of $50,000 is available if desired.
Finding the Best Premium
Getting quotes from several different insurance companies will lead a person to
the best rate. While getting a lower premium is important, people should also
consider the financial strength and stability of the company they are
considering.
