Medical Disability Insurance
Medical insurance covers people with serious diseases such as Arthritis, Crohns,
MS, Parkinson’s, depression, Schizophrenia and many more. If you suffer from a
debilitating disease, odds are you should qualify for Medical Disability
Insurance.
Qualifying for Medical Disability Insurance
To be eligible for this type of insurance, you will follow complete examinations
as deemed necessary. The evaluation must be current and done by an approved
physician. You also must work five out of the previous 10 years.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
SSI benefits are paid out to individuals with low-level income who are disabled,
regardless of whether the required work history has been met. This coverage is
not short term and can take up to six months for a decision to be made on each
individual case. You will be appointed a doctor for a medical evaluation and
they will make a recommendation based on their findings.
Many people are denied their SSI benefits on their first try. Legal
representation may be necessary for acceptance to start receiving these funds.
The best way to ensure you are getting a fair evaluation is to be knowledgeable
about your case and to stay involved and communicate throughout the process. Be
sure to turn in your forms promptly and offer all of the information that is
requested from you. The insurance companies will allow you the benefits if you
prove that you have a debilitating disease, yet they must protect themselves
against fraudulent claims.
The good news is that once the decision is made in your favor, you will likely
get a check that covers the previous months that you have suffered the
disability and have been unable work. The check will come in a lump sum and
will be able to help get you caught up financially. From there a steady stream
of monthly checks, though relatively small, will follow.
