Insurance Carrier Broker Agent

Your insurance carrier is the company that provides your insurance and financial needs. These carriers hire professionals within your community to write your policy and handle all of your account management concerns. The largest insurance companies employ more than 20,000 associates across the U.S. They couldn’t possibly handle all of their customers needs from one location, so having agents in various locations allows them to serve more clients on a more intimate level.

Sales Agent

The typical sales agent or broker is typically a college graduate with a business major. He or she is competent in math, accounting, computers and is an effective communicator. Agents sell insurance plans and financial products both online and within the community. He is also people-friendly.

A broker’s job includes closing sales, investigating and processing claims, making presentations to clients, and documenting new client information.

Individual Insurance Agents

Though many agents and brokers work for a specific insurance company, there is another type of insurance salesman. The Individual Insurance Agent is someone who really works for his clients. He has contact with a number of companies and works with his client to find the best plan at the lowest rate.

Find a Trusted Agent

Though it may take some digging or asking for referrals from others, finding a reputable agent is worth the trouble. You need someone who will work with you in your time of need. You will need a trusted friend to call and handle all of your insurance needs if you are in a car accident. There should be more to the broker-client relationship than both party’s signatures on the policy. You will want someone who will take all of the work out of it for you and leave you only to worry about your family and their well-being.
